The AAMA and the Alabama Community College System are teaming up to help Alabamians interested in pursuing a technical education certificate or associate degree in preparation for a career related to the automotive manufacturing industry. Bedsole Scholars Program is to enable high school graduates from Southwest Alabama with leadership ability, academic commitment and financial need to attend the Alabama College of their choice in pursuit of a Baccalaureate degree. Their college experience will be enhanced by providing opportunities for leadership development, career guidance, interaction with business and community leaders and networking opportunities. Community service involvement on the part of each Bedsole Scholar will enable them to become a community servant leader.
The Scholars Program awards college scholarships to future leaders from five counties in southwest Alabama. The selection criteria for becoming a J.L. Bedsole Scholar includes: demonstrated leadership capacity, demonstrated community service capacity, academic standards and financial need. Candidates for the Bedsole Scholarship must express a desire to use their abilities to further the civic, cultural and economic development of southwest Alabama. Leadership is the most important criteria. Furthermore, candidates must be planning to pursue a Baccalaureate degree at a qualifying 4-year institution within the State of Alabama. We are excited to announce The University of Alabama’s Free App Week, running October 19-23, 2020. This is your students’ opportunity to continue to build off of their hard work and dedication toward their futures without the pressure of cost. Spread the word and the excitement of this opportunity! Senior students and families will receive an email with their personal code on launch day (October 19). The code will only be available to Alabama residents. Students have until 11:59 p.m. CST on October 23 to complete their application Due to COVID-19, representatives from colleges and universities will not visit high schools or conduct college and career fairs in-person. Many schools have held virtual college and career fairs but we want to ensure all high school juniors and seniors receive valuable information about scholarships and admission deadlines.
We have partnered with the Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE) to bring college information to students on a virtual platform. To participate, students can should click on this link and opt-in to receive direct communications from Alabama’s colleges and universities. ACHE will collect each high school junior and senior entered on the link, and the information will be shared with Alabama’s colleges and universities.
