The George Washington Hollinger, Sr. Foundation, Inc. established the Bernice Hollinger Memorial Scholarhip in 1994. It was established in memory of the late Bernice Hollinger, eldest daughter and educator for over 40 years. The first scholarship was awarded in June of that year. The George Washington Hollinger, Sr. Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, charitable organization with interest in education and Christian missions. It was established to encourage and support the efforts of young African American students to stay in school, strive for higher education and become model citizens. The scholarship is awarded annually to an African American graduating student who lives within a 50 mile radius of Repton, AL, who exemplifies high academic performance, have an interest in achieving higher education, need financial support, and possess good moral character.
